Ministry to Bikers

After 20 years of serving as pastor in 2 different churches, we resigned to do full-time motorcycle ministry. We had been members of Christian Motorcycle Ministry while serving as pastor, and had ridden with a motorcycle ministry called Unchained.

When we knew we were changing ministries I went out and got my own bike, took the course and began riding by my husband's side.

12 years later we have story after story to tell of people we've met along America's highways, at races, rallies, runs, charity events, bike nights and church Biker Sundays.

Our ministry style is to respect everyone we meet, become friends and offer ministry when asked. We demonstrate our faith in our lifestyle.

Fortunately we started out attending annual events.

We do annual events like Sturgis Bike Week, the Black Hills Rally, and in the process, while we're on the road we stop off in a few major cities to minister in churches on the way. At Sturgis we set up a canopy in a campground and serve free coffee to the tent campers who have ridden in from all over the country just to see Sturgis.

When we are able to attend Daytona Bike Week we help friends do a Free Bike Wash. We set up canopies and as the bikes pull in and line up we encourage the riders to go under another canopy while we wash their bike for free. We have reading material for them and answer any questions, while others wash the bikes. We offer them snacks and ice water, or coffee. It's pretty amazing how many people pull in for counsel or prayer.

Run For The Wall is a cross-country ride we do annually from California mid-May to Washington D.C. Memorial Day Weekend. We have met wonderful people in the last 9 years who participate in this event. Dear friends, veterans and more recent active duty military participate. More than 2000 people join this event as we go from state to state.

When we are traveling truck and trailer, we meet people in truck stops, restaurants and campgrounds.

Our theory is that we are in this ministry because of a calling from God, so if He's able to send us, then He is also able to put people in our path for us to minister to as we travel. We call that Divine Appointments.

We passed this guy, I made the hubby slow down and let him pass us on the right so I could get this picture.

I didn't get the front of his bike or the back of the one he's towing, because I couldn't adjust my zoom quick enough. I'm never totally ready for a "Kodak Moment."

After preaching in a Biker Sunday service and eating a BBQ lunch, the riders leave for a ride through the mountains. Perfect day for a ride.

So relaxing and meditative.
