Learn to Crochet on Squidoo

Updated on August 30, 2017

You can Crochet. Learn it Here on Squidoo.

Yes, it is an art.

I love to knit. It is very relaxing and I have done this craft for years, even written a lot about the journey, written and published, and sold patterns. But now I'm re-learning to crochet. What an awesome art. I'm excited to learn something new, or re-learn a craft I did as a child. It came back so natural I surprised myself, and my very artsy sister!!

Below is my first crochet piece in probably 35 years. The Christening dress, and the hat is the 2nd piece. Better pictures forthcoming.

Several Squidoo writers feature crocheting articles (lenses) click here to see 5 of them that I featured.

Learn to crochet.

I didn't write the book, or the pattern or the step-by-step.

As you browse through this article you will realize that it wasn't necessary to write the how-to for crochet, because all the experts are right here on Squidoo.

Who wants to reinvent the wheel,

so to speak?

Or who would re-write what is already documented?

So here I scribe my journey,

as I am re-introducing myself to crochet,

using Squidoo, YouTube videos

and many FREE patterns.

The Christening Gown is shown step-by-step in three videos below. Here's the link.

I believe I made this in about 9 or 10 hours, which includes taking it out and restarting several times. I attempted to knit a dress with the same yarn and took it out 7 times before finding this pattern on YouTube to crochet.

Learn to Crochet anywhere, and with any technology. - Even books Several available on Kindle.

There are so many books on Crochet. Sometimes, I'd rather have a book at my side to page through rather than the laptop balanced on the arm of the sofa. Other times I have my Kindle Fire at my side paging through instructions. If I'm in the car, I have my iPhone tuned in to YouTube looking at the next step of the instructions.

This is a great example of a step-by-step video instruction on Crochet. 3 videos, she really talks you through each step, and speeds up through the tedious repetitive rows. Some slow-motion features for specific steps also.

Video One, Two and Three below.

This is an art that used to be taught in girl scouts and campfire girls clubs. Don't know if they still learn these crafts, but it is an awesome way to get those creative juices flowing in young people.

Below is the beginning of a pink dress, using a similar pattern to the crochet Christening Dress in the video. I'm improvising, already.
